Kasuminome Station is located near the downtown Sendai. They have a short runway and civilian glider pilots sometimes use it.
The AH-1 attack helicopter is derived from the UH-1 Iroquois. The most of attack helicopters have two tandem seats to reduce the front area and to increase survivability.
To tell the truth, I did not want to come very much because the weather was not very good for an airshow. A small number of people were there probably because most of people had thought the same way. Selected people can board the CH-47J for a while every year. I had tried several times, but I had never been selected. At that time, we could easily board if we wanted.
That was the first time for me to board a helicopter. I heard the noise from the rotors clearly during the flight because the cabin was not completely closed.
The OH-6D is used as light observation helicopter. The successor OH-1 was developed in Japan by Kawasaki.
