Atlanta, Georgia, USA — April 2006
Naval Air Station Atlanta is located northeast of the downtown Atlanta, and next to Dobbins Air Reserve Base and Lockheed-Martin.
There were many people in the airshow site since Atlanta is a big city and there was not a big space along the runway. Most of people used a parking lot in Lockheed-Martine, and we needed to take a free bus to enter the base. I reached the parking lot around 9:30 am, but there was already a big queue to wait for the bus. Two hours later, I was in the base. I probably should have reached there just after the gate was opened at 8:30 am.
The Angels Over Atlanta Airshow was held for two days in a weekend in April. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy on the first day. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels came.
Lockheed
Martin F-16C Fighting Falcon
The runway was relatively close. Unfortunately, it was a little bit difficult to take good pictures because there were many people around me.
This is a kind of glider, which looks weak, and has no engines. However, it flies nimbly with smoke from the wing tips. It has been a long time since I saw it in Toronto.
Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22A Raptor
The shape of the aircraft does not look very strange in flight. However, it has a unique nose. Since the F-22A is still new, it was enclosed with two tape fences and there were guards with rifles in between.
The truck, which has two jet engines, is very American. This is often one of big attractions in a U.S. airshow. Of course, it is much faster than a propeller plane.
I saw this aircraft several times in cloudy days like this.
