March 2004
Several state buildings are located symmetrically around the Alabama State Capital. I did not find any other buildings, such as restaurants and shops. None was there at the weekend and all the buildings were closed. We can enter the buildings on weekdays, though. I was surprised at the silence in the street when getting off I-85. I did not take many pictures, but let me show you some of them.
Alabama State Capitol
In front of the building, there are state flags and their plates probably made of stones from the corresponding states.
Alabama State Capitol (Front)
This is a white big building. In 2003, I found it in TV several times due to the removal of the 2.5-ton Ten Commandments monument.
Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church
Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached here. This church is very close to the state capitol.
