I thought that Denver was closely surrounded by mountains. Although the altitude is one mile, it seems that we still need to drive for a hour to go to a mountain. It would have been very nice if I could have had time to go to the Rocky Mountain National Park and/or Colorado Springs.
Since the distance between the airport and the downtown is about 25 miles, it takes 30-45 minutes by shuttle bus. The downtown has old and modern buildings and looks safe. I walked around the downtown without any problems. There were free buses running on 16th street, which did not use gasoline.
It was a good landmark when I walked on 16th Street. There were many interesting statues around there.
There was no body search at the entrance. Like other state capitols, the inside of the building was also gorgeous.
There was a city and county building and the U.S. Mint next to the state capitol. The U.S. Mint has a big metal detector at the entrance. There was a small building next to it, and we could buy coins there.
This picture is from the space between the state capitol and the city and county building. Kids were playing around with their parents.
This is a historic district in the downtown.
